“Kickboxing” is somewhat of a catchall term and has been applied to everything from aerobics classes that include punching and kicking to full contact karate to Muay Thai. At Living Sword, our kickboxing class delivers a killer workout designed to develop superb cardio conditioning and strong fighting skills that will apply to American Kickboxing and Muay Thai. Fighting an competition is not a regular part of our class but if that kind of thing interests you, talk to your instructor about your opportunities for competition.
Your Action Plan
- Come Try a Class! This is the first step. If you don’t know what it is like you can decide what your next steps will be. Once you get a feel for class is like and what your fitness levels are like you can move on to step two.
- Set a Personal Goal. Your first goal may simply be to come out to class each week. That’s actually a great place to start. Set reasonable fitness goals and adjust them as you need to.
- Train to Achieve It. You are already doing better than most of the people out there by this point. They’re still sitting on the couch. Feel the rush of hitting the bags and moving your feet while you push yourself to be your very best. It’s easy when your are pumped and the class will have your back when you’re not. You don’t have to be perfect and there’s plenty of time to improve.
It’s most important to remember that whether you are looking for cardio or competition, kickboxing class is not a tournament – it’s just practice. So let go of the pressure and the stress. You are there to learn a new skill, get in shape, and have fun.
